Rain, snowfall in different parts of country bring chill to weather

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: It appears that the winter season is here to stay for a few more days as different parts of Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) received rain and snow on Wednesday night and Thursday.

While it rained in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, heavy snow in Murree, a popular hill resort near Islamabad, and adjoining areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) made the weather not only chillier but also extremely pleasant.

Mountains in Leepa, Chakkar, Sudhan Gali and Neelum Valley areas of AJK are covered in a white sheet of snow due to the snowfall which has been continuing since last night, while rain in low-lying areas led to landslides, blocking roads and thus creating extreme inconvenience for the locals as well as the tourists.

Pakistan and Australian cricket teams which were due to practice at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium today ahead of the first test match, which is set to get underway tomorrow (March 4, 2022), had to cancel their plan on account of rain.

It was cloudy in Lahore early in the morning while some parts of the city also received drizzle.

Other parts of Punjab such as Renala Khurd, Jhelum and Gujrat, however, received light rain.

Parts of southern Punjab, including Rahim Yar Khan, Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan, had received rain yesterday (Wednesday, March 2).

The Met Office has forecast more rain for the twin cities and other upper parts of the country while snow over the hills during the next 24 hours.
