Rajpal Yadav sentenced to six months in jail in loan recovery case

NEW DELHI (Web Desk): Actor Rajpal Yadav has been sentenced to six-month imprisonment for not repaying a loan worth Rs. 8 crore by a Delhi court.

Rajpal and his wife who had taken the loan from a Delhi-based businessman for his directorial debut, Ata Pta Lapata, in 2010 failed to repay it. They had agreed to repay a sum of Rs. 8 crore with interest by June 30, 2011, reported Pinkvilla.

In 2013, Rajpal was sent to Tihar Jail for submitting a false affidavit in the case.

He was granted bail on a bond of Rs. 50,000. His wife was also held guilty as she had signed the cheques, however, she was not sentenced by the court.

The court asked Rajpal Yadav to pay Rs. 11.2 crore and his wife Radha to pay Rs. 70 lakh collectively in all the seven cases in which they have been held guilty.

“There are seven separate complaint cases filed by the complainant wherein the convicts have been held guilty under section 138 of NI Act. Cheque in question in each case is of Rs 1.5 crore,” the court noted.
