Rangers arrest terrorist of Lashka-e-Balochistan from Karachi

KARACHI: Pakistan Rangers, Sindh arrested an alleged terrorist associated with proscribed Lashkar-e-Balochistan here on Friday.

According to spokesman of the paramilitary force the alleged terrorist Maheem Khan s/o Sher Jan was arrested on the basis of intelligence information.

“The terrorist had been associated with proscribed Lashkar-e-Balochistan since 2012 and had directly been involved in different acts of terrorism,” spokesman told The Frontier Post.

The accused, according to Rangers, was involved in attack on the irrigation department vehicle near Hub Chowki in June 2014 whereas he also carried out remote control bomb attacks on electricity poles and transformers  near Attock cement factory in Hub in September 2014, September 2015 and January 2016.

In July 2016, the suspect carried out a grenade attack on a police van in Galaxy Town.

Moreover, he was also part of another grenade attack on an under-construction building on Bawany Road. The attack occurred on January 15.

On April 15, Khan set on fire the car of a private university student, the spokesperson added.

Arms, ammunition, bullets and explosives material have also been seized from the suspect’s possession.

Moreover, an alleged criminal was shot dead whereas another succumbed to injuries following his arrest, and 15 others detained during various search operations being carried out early Friday morning in different localities of Karachi, according to reports.

One suspect was killed Thursday night during a police encounter as he attempted to rob citizens in Orangi Town’s Sector 9E area, police officials said.
