MULTAN: Director Cotton Research Station (CRS) and known cotton scientist Dr Sagher Ahmed lauded reduction in duty and other taxes on agriculture machinery and fertilizers.
The step would surely help promote maximum utilization of agriculture machinery and it would also decrease labour cost and enhance productivity.
The scientist stated this while talking to APP here Saturday.
He said that the use of agriculture machinery was not common phenomena in our agriculture sector as only big farmers use it.
Small farmers are lacking resources to purchase machinery. He however added that the reduction of duty and taxes on agriculture machinery would enable even small farmers to purchase machines.
Similarly, most of the farmers were not able to ensure proportionate use of balanced fertilizers.
The recent reduction in prices of fertilizers would facilitate them. Due to lack of canal water, the farmers have shifted their focus towards tubewell water and the Tubewell water reduces the potassium in soil.
