Rental vehicles business increased
ISLAMABAD: As the general elections just around the corner, the rent-a-car companies all over the country has been witnessed an increase demand in their business as the candidates and their supporters are booking vehicles for the election campaigns.
A report aired by a private news channel said, with the start of election campaigns scores of citizens belonging to different parties hiring rental vehicles to travel around the country canvassing for votes during the election season. Rent a car companies are also expecting a 100 percent increase in car rent business during the election campaign.
According to rent-a-car companies, several candidates who were sure that they would get a party ticket, had begun campaigning. The companies had rented out as many as cars to politicians in many parts of the country.
Cars that are rented out the most for campaigns include Toyota Corollas, Vigos (Hilux), Prados and Land Cruisers. These cars will remain rented out till when the elections are over, said a local company owner Shahid Qayumm. He further said most firms had doubled their rates due to the increase in demand.
Javed Qasim another CEO of the company was of the opinion that several candidates whose names were finalized would rent the most cars as many of its candidates were contesting elections for the first time. He said most candidates were affluent and owned many big cars.
A party worker Ahmad Sayed said usually candidates spent millions of rupees on renting cars during election season.
Most candidates would take a Prado and two or three Hilux cars to a rally.
