PESHAWAR: The two member bench of Peshawar High Court comprising of Justice Lal Jan Khattak and Justice Shakeel Ahmad has directed Election Commission of Pakistan to hear petitioners regarding reshaping of constituencies, on Friday.
In the writ petition PHC has issued detailed judgment by set aside impugned orders of Election Commission of Pakistan and stated that ECP has not granted opportunity of hearing to petitioners who are also Members of Provincial Assembly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The writ petition was by MPAs including Iftikhar Mashwani, Zahir Shah, Atif Khan of Mardan and Shahram Khan of Swabi district against reshaping constituencies without hearing them.
The counsels for petitioners were Babar Khan Yousafzai Advocate, Ijaz Safi Advocate and Ali Gohar Advocate argued the writ before honorable court.
The counsel informed that on 25 January 2019 ECP has reshaped several constituencies of union council in the area respective area and they were not heard.
The counsel argued that the reshaped constituencies’ voters will face problems during election.
The two-member bench issued detailed judgment and directed ECP to hear the grievances of petitioners and set aside impugned orders of Election Commission of Pakistan.
