Residents complain of electricity load shedding

Anees Takar

MARDAN: Residents of Parhoti and Sikandri are grappling with a relentless wave of unscheduled power outages, lasting up to seven hours each day. The unannounced blackouts occur daily, cutting electricity at 5 PM and resuming at 11:30 PM at night.

The impact of these clandestine power cuts is far-reaching, with households and mosques enduring prolonged periods without electricity. Complaints about water shortages due to extended power outages have also emerged.

30 years old, Uzair Ahmad said that the constant power cuts are affecting our daily lives. It’s unbearable especially during these challenging times when we rely on electricity for everything. “The situation is dire. Many of us are struggling to make ends meet, and these extended power outages only add to our difficulties.

Something needs to be done urgently” said Uzair Ahmad.

The shopkeeper Javed Khan said that the unannounced load shedding effected badly our business we spent the whole time in darkness. This is the peak time of buying and selling, if immediate measures aren’t taken to address the illegal and unannounced load shedding, business community and people will take to the streets. Our elected representatives must prioritize our basic needs over political agendas.

The trifecta of soaring inflation, rampant unemployment, and extensive load shedding has forced numerous impoverished urban dwellers into dire circumstances.

In response to the grievances of the citizens, local authorities are urged to expedite efforts to curtail the illicit load shedding, ensuring that the basic necessities of the population are met.

Failure to rectify the situation may result in public protests against elected representatives who are perceived as neglecting the welfare of their constituents. The pressing need for a sustainable solution to the energy crisis looms large over the affected communities.
