Review: Tohfa Cafe in Madinah

Jasmine Bager

Tohfa Cafe in Madinah opened during the coronavirus pandemic.

Located near Madinah National Hospital, the outlet’s name means masterpiece in Arabic, and its barista Mohammed takes pride in tailoring drinks to suit individual customer tastes.

In my case, his Spanish latte recommendation was the perfect balance between sweet and strong.

Its holiday menu includes favorites such as hot chocolate, mint latte, cinnamon latte, and sahlab, a regional warm milky drink, as well as cold offerings such as iced coffees and teas, fruity mojitos, and ice cream.

With seating indoors and outdoors, the cafe is popular among locals as a place to read or work on a laptop while savoring a cake or croissant with their drink.

For birthdays, celebrations, and small corporate events, a private room can be hired at the cafe for SR300 ($80). The party package includes cake for seven people, fresh flowers, candles, and music, with any drinks at an additional cost.

Normally open from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., the cafe recently started serving from 7 a.m. for the winter season, offering a 15 percent discount for early risers.

Updates on changes to opening hours can be monitored on Instagram @tohfa.coffee along with information on special offers and new menu items. A local delivery service is also available via several apps.
