Revival of MMA: Final talks to be held tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: To contest 2018 elections in full throttle, religio-political parties have joined hands to reinvigorate Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) as final round of discussions will be held Tuesday at Maulana Shah Ahmed Norani’s (Late) residence.

The meeting would be hosted by Allama Awais Norani where talks would be held among heads of different religious political factions to finalize manifesto and its reactivation.

Announcement regarding revival of MMA is expected after the said meeting.

According to available information, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, Sirajul Haq, Syed Sajid Naqvi and Allama Sajid Mir would expectedly attend the meeting which will decide the fate of future religio-political alliance of these factions.

Matter of Maulana Sami ul Haq’s separation from alliance would also come under discussion during the meeting as he had been invited in the first meeting also due to his unique role and as an icon of respect among clergymen, though, members agreed to make another bid to accede him.

MMA meeting will also discuss prospects of Maulana Sami ul Haq’s alliance with PTI and an index of small parties has been finalized by MMA for coalition.

Meeting of MMA’s steering committee will be held on same day in Lahore while 2nd steering committee meeting will be held on 12th of December, MMA has started discussions to patch-up with Punjab’s third largest political party, Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PMLQ), sources said.
