PESHAWAR: PPC Kings upset PPC Qabails by four runs in the first quarter final of the second edition of RMI Media Cricket League at Government Shaheed Hasnain Sharif Higher Secondary School No. 1.

Qabails who were tagged as the favourites to win the tournament after their performance in the first round failed to click with the bat as they failed to chase what looked an easy target of 94 runs in allotted 10 overs.

Qabails put Kings to bat first after winning the toss. Kings made 92 runs thanks to 32 runs by Waqar and 26 by Zahid. At one stage Kings looked strong to post a high total but brilliant bowling by Qabails captain Bilal Afridi and Qari Zai Kings were restricted to a low total. Bilal was most successful bowler with three wickets while Qari got rid of two batsmen.

In response, Qabails got off to a shaky start and lost their first four batsmen for just 16 runs. Tournament’s top run getter Irshad was bowled by Waqar in the second over. Qari Zia who is famous for his har hitting batting style followed Irshad the next ball. Bilal and Ali Sheikh fought hard and hit 29 runs in the 9th over to left the crowd on their feet. With 10 runs needed off last six balls, Waqar who was also named Man of the Match bowled a brilliant over and gave no chance to Bilal and Ali Sheikh to score runs. Thus Qabails could make only 88 runs. Former Senator Salim Saifullah was the chief guest on the occasion. The tournament is being organized by Rehman Medical Institute (RMI), Top Up mineral water, Traffic Warden Police and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Directorate. Sana Ullah and Usman officiated the match while Imran Yousafzai acted as scorer.
