Russia has asked US to approve Moscow’s new ambassador to Washington: Report

MOSCOW (Reuters): Russia has sent the US a request asking Washington to approve Moscow’s new ambassador to the United States, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Wednesday, the state RIA news agency reported.

In November, Russia’s Kommersant newspaper reported that Alexander Darchiev, currently head of the Foreign Ministry’s North American department, was likely to be named as Moscow’s new ambassador to Washington.
