Russia’s energy weapon and US plan

Written by The Frontier Post

The United States and the European Union are working to ensure regular supplies of natural gas to Europe to avoid potential disruptions due to the Ukraine crisis, US President Joe Biden and President European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen said in a joint statement on Friday. The two leaders further stressed that they are jointly committed to Europe’s energy security and sustainability accelerating the global transition to clean energy. Both leaders expressed their resolve to accomplish the shared objective of ensuring the energy security of Ukraine along with its progressive integration with the EU gas and electricity markets. The press release further stated that the United States and the European Union are working jointly towards continued, sufficient, and timely supply of natural gas to the EU from diverse sources across the globe to avoid supply shocks, including those that could result from a further Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The US-Russia relations are witnessing a new low in the post-cold war era, it is not another cold war but both nations are currently facing the threat of a real war between them in the days ahead. According to reports, US Intelligence had warned that Russia can carry out an attack against Ukraine in the coming days, as Putin had deployed further troops in the vicinity of its border with Ukraine as well as Russian troops had been deployed in Belarus. According to Pentagon Spokesman, John Kirby, Russia has added its military capabilities in the region instead of de-escalation. According to analysts, the rising trends of hostilities between Russia and NATO allies are indicative of the fact that Russia might use its effective energy weapon against the EU in the wake of breaking out of a war with Ukraine while pushing its opponents into an energy crisis. In this case, NATO states will be compelled to join the Ukraine war under Article 5 of NATO’s statute which states that an attack on a member state considers an attack on the whole group and calls the member nations to protect their ally from foreign aggression.

Meanwhile, the United States has vowed to impose unprecedented sanctions against Russian firms, on members of President Putin’s inner circle as well as Putin himself, but western allies fear that Putin can respond with retaliatory moves including cuts in energy supply flows from Russia to Europe. The tension heightened at a level that the United States has called back extra Diplomatic staff along with their families from Ukraine and also asked its citizens to leave the country at the earliest due to an imminent threat of invasion by the Russian Federation. As for as, EU’s energy requirements are a concern, America is the largest supplier of LNG to the European Union and also collaborating with the governments and global market operators to ensure uninterrupted supply of oil and gas to its European allies. Currently, American strategists are planning to arm the Ukrainian insurgents for a potential guerilla war against Russian forces if Putin succeeded in capturing Ukraine. A stage has been set by the warmongers in Ukraine, and global merchants of arms, oil, and gas are preparing to make money from the Ukrainian crisis as the vampires need blood to thrive.
