JODHPUR: Bollywood heartthrob, Salman Khan has been jailed for five years in blackbucks poaching case on Thursday in Jodhpur city of India.

After the court proceedings, Prosecution lawyer Mahipal Bishnoi informed the media person outside the court in the Rajasthan city of Jodhpur that the court has given a five-year jail term and fined Salman Khan 10,000 rupees.

Earlier Salman Khan was found guilty of killing endangered Indian wildlife nearly two decades ago, a prosecutor said, a charge that could see the Bollywood superstar jailed for six years.

Khan, one of the Indian movie industry’s most bankable stars, was convicted by a court in Rajasthan state of poaching the rare antelopes known as black bucks in 1998.

Four other Bollywood stars – Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam Kothari – were also accused of partaking in the hunting trip but were acquitted for lack of evidence.
