Samjhauta Express train to resume services: Sheikh Rasheed

F.P. Report

LAHORE: Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad said on Saturday that the Samjhauta Express train service will resume its operations according to schedule.

Addressing a news conference in Lahore on Saturday, he said emergency has been declared in Pakistan Railways and it has sufficient stock of fuel to meet at least one month of requirements.

He warned India for provoking instability in the region, and asserted “India is well aware of military capability of Pakistan and its Air Force.”

He praised Prime Minister Imran Khan for taking a wise decision of releasing Indian pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman from captivity as a ‘gesture of goodwill’.

He expressed annoyance over Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Khurshid Shah’s criticism on Imran Khan and said, “We can capture their pilot anytime.”

Regarding the ongoing conflict in Kashmir, he said even today Indian forces were killing Kashmiris “ruthlessly”.

“Every child of Kashmir is ready for martyrdom,” he went on to say.

He appreciated Pakistan’s media for covering all the incidents responsibly while criticizing Indian media for promoting warmongering between the two countries.

He announced that PM Imran Khan will inaugurate VIP Jinnah Express Train on 20 March.

Sheikh Rashid said Pakistan Railways is considering starting joint ventures with Turkish and Russian companies. The train service was suspended in the wake of soaring hostile relations between arch-rivals.
