Sarfaraz Bugti: Nawaz Sharif will be treated as per law on return

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfaraz Bugti clarified his statement Tuesday regarding the arrest of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif, saying that the caretaker government had no political agenda and his statement was given a political colour out of context.

“It is welcoming that Nawaz Sharif wants to return to Pakistan’s politics. A large section of the people of Pakistan are engaged in preparations to welcome him,” he said.

“Nawaz Sharif will be treated according to the law upon his return home. We have to get out of rumours and assumptions and look at the issues in the mirror of reality. The caretaker government will act according to its mandate,” he added.

Earlier, former information minister Marriyum Aurangzeb reacted to the statement of Sarfaraz Bugti regarding the arrest of Nawaz Sharif.

“Mr Sarfraz Bugti, you should talk according to your political stature. Where does Nawaz Sharif have to go from the airport? It is neither your problem nor your decision,” she said in a statement on X.

“Use your force and preparedness to provide security and peace to the people. Where does Nawaz Sharif have to go from the airport on October 21? This will be the decision of Nawaz Sharif and the people,” she added.

“Nawaz Sharif is the three-time elected prime minister of this country who was unjustly punished by levelling false allegations against him and implicating him in fake cases,” she stated.

“By subjecting Nawaz Sharif to revenge and enmity, every sector of the country was ruined, and the people were left hungry and unemployed,” she deplored.

“You just get rid of the misconception that the position you are holding is for life. You should worry about the country, not Nawaz Sharif. From 2017 until now, such false propaganda and conspiracy have done a lot of injustice to the people, now it’s enough!” she asserted.

Meanwhile, the PML-N intensified its campaign on social media before Nawaz Sharif’s return to Pakistan. A special revolutionary slogan has also been released for the return of Nawaz Sharif to Pakistan.
