RIYADH (Agencies): Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman congratulated Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on his recent reelection, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday.
During a phone call, the Crown Prince wished al-Sisi “success, and the Egyptian people further progress and prosperity,” SPA said.
The Egyptian president for his part thanked MBS for his wishes.
Al-Sisi was announced winner of the presidential election on December 18, winning a new six-year term with 89.6 percent after voting was held over three days on December 10-12.
The Egyptian election authority said at the time that turnout reached an “unprecedented” 66.8 percent of Egypt’s 67 million voters.
Al-Sisi was first elected president in 2014, and was re-elected in 2018, both times with 97 percent of the vote.
