Saudi-Iran reunion and greater Muslim cause

According to the Arab media, the Saudi and Iranian Foreign Ministers greeted each other at the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan and promised to meet soon to implement the landmark bilateral reconciliation deal. During a Tele conversation on Thursday, the two leaders agreed to hold a bilateral meeting soon in order to pave the way for the reopening of embassies between the two countries along with initiating other measures to consolidate their recent rapprochement and boost trade and security cooperation between the two nations.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran kicked off their bilateral diplomatic and trade engagements after two decades of pause in the aftermath of a surprising Chinese-brokered peace deal on March 10. Both nations have a genuine quest for the normalization of their bilateral relations by maintaining the momentum of engagement and intensifying their high-level contacts between their nations. Recently, President Ebrahim Raisi favorably received an invitation to visit Saudi Arabia from King Salman, while the top diplomats of the two countries are also continuously working to take the bilateral cooperation between their countries to the next level.

In fact, the Saudi-Iran detente was not only the utmost need of the two contesting nations but the entire Muslim Ummah and multiple brotherly countries had worked to normalize the relations between two major Muslim powers in the world. The Saudi-Iran tussle has badly hurt the core fabric of Muslim society while multiple Muslim countries including Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Lybia, Pakistan, Iraq, Bahrain, and Afghanistan seriously affected by proxy wars and sectarianism fuelled by both nations over the past decades. As the two countries have now normalized their relations, there is a dire need for both rivals to work to reduce their difference of interests in multiple domains and play a constructive role in resolving issues confronting Muslim countries due to internal division and sectarianism.

At the same time, the Saudi-Iran rivalry seriously damaged Palestine’s cause, as anti-Muslim Israel and its western backers tactfully stimulated inter-Muslim rivalry, created doubts and fear between Saudi Arabia and Iran through conspiracies and propaganda, while using their mutual weakness and distrust to their own advantage to implement their agenda in the broader Middle East region. Originally, the Saudi-Iran deal attracted massive outcry and criticism from Israel, the United States, and other western nations, as the west conceived a plan for Israel’s greater integration in the Middle East region along with the formation of an anti-Iran Arab-Israel Alliance to tactfully weaken and ultimately destroy Muslim countries in the region while putting a last nail in the coffin of the Palestine cause.

Fortunately, the Chinese brokered Saudi Iran deal not only sabotaged all Israeli plans against Iran and other regional nations but also set a stage for greater trade, economic and security cooperation among the Muslim nations in the region, along with letting hope to Palestinians for solid and unified moral and political support from the Arab and overall Muslim world in their just struggle for the creation of a separate and independent homeland on their own land. In fact, the spirit of the Saudi-Iran reunion must be carried forward by the regional leaders to settle down their bilateral issues and revitalize peace and stability in Yemen, Syria, Lybia, Lebanon as well as Iraq so a durable peace could be ensured in those conflict-hit regions at the earliest.

After restoring peace and tranquility in conflict regions, the Muslim countries must raise a strong and coordinated voice in support of Palestinian, Kashmiri, and Royangia Muslims who had been facing unceasing faith-based atrocities and brutalities by the occupier forces over the past decades, so those marginalized Muslim communities could achieve their fundamental rights according to the UN and global laws. After all, mutual unity, teamwork, and cooperation is the only key to unlocking hidden prospects for power, progress, and prosperity in this world and beyond.
