Saudi’s offers to mediate between Pakistan, India

RAWALPINDI: Saudi State Minister for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir called Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa at GHQ on Thursday.

They discussed the Pak-India tension and situation in the region. The Saudi minister lauded Pakistan’s efforts for peace in the region. “Saudi Arabia is a true friend of Pakistan and will continue to support Pakistan for regional peace,” he said.

The COAS thanked Saudi Arabia for making efforts for peace and stability during difficult time of Pakistan.

Earlier, Saudi State Minister for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir called on Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He also conveyed the message of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman.

Upon his arrival, he was welcomed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ office by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi he arrived in Pakistan. They discussed matters of mutual interest, including Pak-India tension and regional peace.

The Saudi State Minister is on a day-long visit to Pakistan at the direction of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, and his tour aims at bringing the tense environment between Pakistan and India to normalcy.

Talking to him, the Foreign Minister welcomed the mediation offer from Saudi Crown Prince to deescalate the tensions between Pakistan and India.

Both foreign ministers agreed to implement the steps to promote two-way economic, political and security cooperation under Pak-Saudi Supreme Coordination Council.

Adel al-Jubeir also assured Shah Mehmood Qureshi of Saudi Arabia’s full cooperation to settle all the outstanding issues between Pakistan and India peacefully.
