ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday resumed contempt of court case hearing against the State Interior Minister Tallal Chaudry as he appeared before the court.

Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan headed the three member Supreme Court bench.

Kamran Murtaza, counsel of Tallal Chaudhry has said that minister has submitted his response to the show-cause notice by the court and demanded to provide the record of anti judiciary speech.

The court then ordered the additional attorney general to provide the minister with the relevant CD and then the hearing was adjourned for March 8.

The court also granted exemption from appearing in the court to Tallal Chaudry.

At the last hearing of the case on Feb 26, the case had been adjourned owing to Chaudry’s lawyer’s other commitments.

Moreover, the interior minister had requested the court on February 24 to withdraw the case and adding that scandalizing the court or doing anything that tends to bring the court into ‘hatred, ridicule or contempt’ is ‘not even the last thing on the respondent’s mind.’
