SC expresses annoyance over performance of KP prosecution

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Tuesday expressed annoyance over performance of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)’s prosecution in criminal cases and termed it wastage of time and money of public exchequers.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Dost Muhammad Khan remarked that the government was spending millions of rupees on prosecutions but performance was zero “why not this prosecution department should be closed?”

Justice Qazi Faez Esa remarked that in 2013 apex court directed KP government to establish a forensic lab in the province but the government did not executed the court orders. Justice Dost Muhammad said most of the people in our departments were dishonest.

“If you visit any department then you will find 60% employees on leave, is this the preaching of Islam and our leader Quid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah?”, he inquired.

“Due to such incompetent prosecutors, small cases even bail matters move to the apex court, but people level allegation of delay in dispensation of justice on Judiciary”, he observed.

There was a lot of difference between our nation and the nations of developed countries who were honest to their jobs and to their country, he added.

Meanwhile, after going through the arguments the bench rejected a bail application moved by the accused Majeeb who was booked in a firing case on three people in Mansahra, however, accepted the application of accused Jahanzaib against deposit of Rs100k as surety bond in a murder case.
