SC issues notice to NAB in Sharjeel bail application case

F.P. Report

Islamabad:  The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday issued notice to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) while hearing the bail application case of PPP Leader Sharjeel Ahmed Memon. Memon had filed an appeal in the apex court, challenging the Sindh High Court’s decision to reject his bail in a reference.

Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, during the hearing, observed that Sharjeel Memon has been provided all possible facilities in jail, adding that he should not have any issue. Three-member bench, led by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, said Memon has been imprisoning for the past five months, adding during a suo motu, they had observed that he was provided all facilities  there but the court ignored the issue.

The case has been adjourned till April 17 next month.  Justice Khosa asked from Muhammad Latif Khosa that you had submitted a bail application of Memon, upon which, Latif Khosa replied the bail application was just for the selection of the case.  The court, after getting response from Latif Khosa, dismissed the bail application case.

During the hearing, Justice Khosa again asked was Sharjeel Memon in London when he was on fleeing? He said the court didn’t issue arrest warrants of his client. He added, ‘Bull, come, hit me’ is the case with Sharjeel Memon.  Latif Khosa further said the general elections 2018 are approaching and he is feared that the case would negatively affect his client political career.  Justice Saeed Khosa said the Sindh High Court decision was in detail, adding that the verdict comprises 50 pages.

The three-member bench observed when applications would be in great numbers, decisions will also be prolonged.
