SC seeks record of dual national govt employees

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Wednesday summoned the record of dual national government employees in 15 days and said strict action would be taken against those who failed to implement court orders.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard the suo moto notice case.

During the course of proceedings, the secretary establishment appeared before the bench and informed that they had summoned the details from all institutions on the court order. He said two provinces had submitted the report while the others were in line. He pleaded the court to grant more time for collection of employees data.

The chief justice remarked that if reports were not submitted within a week then contempt of the court notices would be issued to the officials concerned.

He remarked that the government officials were sending their children abroad and if they found involved in any wrongdoing, they left the country.

He remarked that parliamentarians had been disqualified over dual nationalities. The court just wanted complete information and would see what action to take, if any, against dual nationality holders, he added.

The court also issued notices to all chief secretaries, service administrators of the institutions concerned and secretaries of the federal ministries and summoned report from them.

The chief justice remarked that they would reward those who would give tip-off for those having dual nationality.

The court later adjourned the hearing till March 1.
