Scotland demolish Afghanistan in the opening match of ICC WC Qualifiers

KABUL: The Scotland cricket team defeated Afghanistan in the opening match of the ICC World Cup Qualifiers on Sunday which was played in Bulawayo of Zimbabwe

After winning the toss, the Scotland elected to field first and invited the Afghan team to bat first.

Afghanistan lost the top order batsmen in the early overs of the match but Mohammad Nabi and Najibullah Zadran batted well and scored 92 and 67 runs respectively.

The Afghanistan managed to set a target of 256 for the Scottish team but the Afghan bowlers could not defend the total.

The Scotland team achieved the target in the 47th over with the loss of three wickets.

Calum MacLeod destroyed the Afghan bowling attack and score 157* on 146 balls by hitting 23 fours and 1 sixes.

He was awarded the Man of the Match award for his outstanding batting performance.
