Scouts finalize arrangements for Independence Day

LAKKI MARWAT: The local administration with the support of boy scouts association and line departments has finalized arrangements and preparations to mark Independence Day with national zeal and fervor in the district.
In this connection a meeting was held at the district headquarters complex Tajazai with deputy commissioner Muhammad Kabir Afridi in the chair. Additional ACs Syed Ayub Shah and Israr Khan, DSP Ashraf Khan, district sports officer Shafqatullah Khan, assistant district education officer Nisar Muhammad, district youth officer Muhammad Shakeeb, TMA Lakki tehsil officer infrastructure Sabz Ali Khan, TMA Naurang sanitary inspector Afnan Khan and officials of line departments were in attendance.
The meeting reviewed arrangements for Independence Day functions and tasked different responsibilities to the heads and representatives of government departments. It was told in the meeting that flag hoisting ceremony would be held at the district headquarters complex on 14th of August where school students and boy scouts would present tableaus, speeches, national anthem and patriotic songs.
The schools’ students will also take part in tug of war competition while local sports clubs will participate in volleyball, football and badminton events. Speaking at the meeting the deputy commissioner said that Independence Day would be celebrated with the spirit of patriotism and national unity. “The day reminds us that we should be united for the progress and prosperity of our motherland and should pay tributes to those who sacrificed their lives for freedom”, he maintained, saying that the day will be celebrated with national enthusiasm and jubilation across the district.
Meanwhile, an official of Lakki tehsil municipal administration Khalid Osman has said that he was falsely implicated in the murder case of Shahid Karim, a student of private school and demanded of higher authorities and the family of deceased student to provide him justice.
Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, he said that he was on duty when the killing incident occurred in Lakki city few days ago. “The tehsil municipal officer and officials of sanitation and water supply departments have recorded statements in my favor that I was present on duty”, he claimed, adding that some local political elements are trying to politicize the incident just for the sake of getting their vested interests. He said that he should be hanged in public if the victim’s family and quarters concerned had any proof about my involvement in murder of school student.
