Security arrangements finalized for Rabi-ul-Awwal

D I KHAN: The district police have finalized its security arrangements to maintain peace on the occasion of the 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal across the district.

Talking in a meeting with religious leaders here on Tuesday to review security arrangements for peaceful observance of the holy day, the District Police Officer (DPO) Raja Abdul Saboor Khan said that stringent measures have been taken to provide foolproof security to the procession on the occasion.

Besides deployment of police personnel at important positions, the DPO said bomb disposal units would also be on duty to ensure complete peace on the day. He said that police personnel would also keep patrolling on important routes of the city and keep eye on suspected persons to hold all the religious programmes with regard to the 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal in a peaceful way.

He said directives had been issued for ensuring effective coordination among all the units on day and added that the processions would also be monitored. He urged the police to keep close liaison with the citizen whose property and life would be protected at all costs and no negligence would be tolerated on this front. He said no one would be allowed to take law into his own hands, adding strict action would be taken against those who were found involved in criminal activities. He also appealed people to cooperate with police to promote brotherhood, tolerance and religious harmony for ensuring durable peace in the district which had witnessed subversive acts in past.
