KABUL: President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani has said the Afghan forces could not reach to their goal in the absence of a single command center.

Addressing the ceremony to mark the transfer of civil order police commander to defence ministry here, President Ghani said their main purpose was to establish a single command center.

The transfer of civil order police command has increased the importance of interior ministry, President Ghani said. In the past, he said the ministry had remained behind its real job, which was the implementation of law.

The deployment of armed forces should not be considered incorrectly, he said. Comprehensive investment has been made in the interior ministry.

He said his directives were to provide full support to the police. The casualties should be reduced. Protection for every citizen was the national and Islamic responsibility of the country, he added.

The purpose to transfer the civil order police was to create a single command. The armed forces could not accomplish their goal without the presence of a single command, he observed.

The civil order police would be formed with proper capability with the coordination of commandos and Special Forces, he added. It would enable them to protect areas properly. These forces would be equipped with modern weapons.

The high commander of armed forces said differences, politics and small identities in the armed forces had no place in the armed forces. The security forces should accord respect to the flag and sacred knowledge, he observed.

“Due to your bravery, administration and good coordination, the enemies of Afghanistan were unable to reach to their goals in 1396 year, and to perform good duties in your entrenchment and office,” he said.

He said the international strategy was changed due to the efforts of the armed forces of Afghanistan, he said. It enabled Kabul to succeed in the political field, he added.

On the occasion, the interior and defence ministers highlighted the importance of civil order police. They assured that efforts would be made to strengthen the armed forces with joint efforts and coordination. The conspiracies of the enemy would be frustrated with coordinated efforts, they noted.

Addressing the ceremony, deputy commander of Resolute Support assured that they would keep supporting the armed forces of Afghanistan. He said that they would stand by the Afghan forces for training and counseling. They would be given all-out support, he added.

The defence and interior ministers signed the document for the transfer of civil order police from interior to defence ministry in the presence of President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani.
