Security forces retreat from Govt buildings in Behsud: MP

KUNDUZ (Tolo News): Abdul Rahman Wardak, a member of parliament from Maidan Wardak, said that the security forces retreated from a building in the district after an hour-long clash with Alipoor’s supporters.

“The government forces are no longer present in the area, the police commander is now in Hes-e-Awal Behsud,” said Abdul Rahman Wardak, a member of parliament.

“Some extra forces were sent to the district, but they disrupted the peace there and shot at the people,” said MP Fatima Nazari.

Meanwhile, a number of people harmed by the clashes have asked the Afghan government to take action and prevent more casualties.

“I was working in a hotel, I was standing in front of the hotel, but I got wounded and was hit with a bullet,” said Zaki, a resident in Kunduz.

MPs said that cases such as Alipoor’s are being exploited politically, undermining rule of law.

The Afghan Interior Ministry has not commented on the matter, and so far the results of a government delegation’s visit to Behsud to probe the clashes in Behsud, where about 40 people were killed and injured, have not been made public.
