KARACHI: As many as 13,000 law enforcement authority personnel will be deployed for the Pakistan Super League matches at the National Stadium in Karachi starting from March 9, Additional Inspector General (IG) of Police Karachi Dr Amir Shaikh said.

Addressing a press conference regarding the security plan devised for PSL matches in Karachi, the AIG said 50 SSPs, 700 lady police officers and 250 commandos will be on duty during the matches.

He added that four security checkpoints will be set up and the security has been divided into five layers. “More CCTV cameras have been installed,” the official added.

The Karachi police chief further said, a control room has been set up and a full rehearsal has been done.

“Spectators will have to arrive at the stadium two hours ahead of the game, after which the gates of the stadium will be closed,” AIG Sheikh said. “No one is allowed to carry eatables from outside the venue.”

Speaking about the parking arrangement, the police chief said there will be five designated parking sports for the match-goers. “500 shuttles will take fans to and from the parking lot to the stadium.”

Further, he said, routes leading from Karsaz, Dalmia and Hassan Square to Stadium Road will be closed for traffic during the match. However, roads leading to both private hospitals on the Stadium Road will remain open.

Traffic will be diverted away from the stadium three hours before the matches start, he added.
