Senate body for ensuring Balochistan quota in federal govt deptts

ISLAMABABD: The functional committee on problems of less developed of the Senate was told by the government officials that 5257 out of 15784 vacancies awarded for the remote province are still vacant and no hiring initiated on the vacant positions.

The Senate panel was briefed by the Secretary Establishment division on the hiring process under the Aghaz-e-Haqooq Baluchistan package and distribution of electricity of various power carriers in the province.

The Secretary of the establishment division while briefing the panel added that in 2007 amendment were done in quota system of the provinces under which the remote Baluchistan quota was increased from 3.5 to 6 percent. The official added that in year of 2009 the establishment division started their exercise and informed all stakeholders regarding the progress after which we submit updated report to the government after every three months.

The officials added that total vacancies of Baluchistan up to 2019 are 15784 on which hiring on 10527 already completed while 5257 are still vacant and no one hired on these position. The committee chair Usman Kakar directed the establishment division to start hiring on the vacant position on emergency basis.

The chair asked from establishment division that the government awarded additional 5000 seats for Baluchistan, have you hired any one these position in response the government official responded that they are not monitoring that positions and out of their domain.

Senator Mir Kabir while surfacing reservation on quota system of Baluchistan added that he raised 42 questions in house regarding the implementation but department replied that implementation of quota in Baluchistan was not implemented in true sense.

The committee added that there is difference in quota seats and seats introduced under Baluchistan package so don’t mix adding that hiring on vacant seats should be completed on emergency basis.

The committee lamented while not hiring local people from Baluchistan province in power distribution companies on which the officials replied that around 853 out of 1230 are still vacant in power distribution companies on Baluchistan quota.

The officials added further that 640 out of 750 vacancies are vacant in KESCO for Baluchistan and no hiring was done in power distribution companies from Baluchistan. The committee lamented on the progress and added that hiring on  said positions should be started on emergency basis to facilitate the deprived Baluchistan province.
