ISLAMABAD: PTI Senator Saifullah Abro has been removed from the chairmanship of the Senate Standing Committee on Power.
A meeting of the Standing Committee on Power was held on Tuesday in which Abro was removed from the committee chairmanship and PML-N Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar was made new chairman of the committee.
A no-confidence move against Abro was presented during the meeting. The move was passed with majority vote.
The committee members who voted in favour of no-confidence move against Saifullah Abro included Senators Beharmand Tangi, Manzoor Kakar, Sana Jamali and Dilawar Khan.
The meeting was presided over by Additional Secretary Hafeez Ullah Sheikh and the no-confidence move was presented under the Senate Rules 181.
Sources said that Senators Saifullah Niazi, Fida Muhammad and Hadayatullah voted in favour of Senator Abro.
Sources further said that the Senate Chairman summoned the standing committee meeting today.
