QUETTA: Interestingly seven former Balochistan chief ministers (CMs) are contesting the next general elections scheduled to be held on February 8, 2024, on Tuesday.
Those ex-CMs who are contesting the elections are Sardar Akhtar Mengal, who is a candidate both for the National Assembly as well as the provincial assembly seats.
Similarly, another former chief minister Nawab Aslam Khan Raisani from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) will compete for the provincial assembly seat.
Likewise, Dr Abdul Malik Baloch and Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Sanaullah Zehri are also contesting the elections.
Other ex-chief ministers namely Jam Kamal Khan from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Jan Muhammad Jamali, who also served as the speaker Balochistan Assembly, are also candidates in the elections.
Similarly, former caretaker CM from Hub Sardar Muhammad Saleh Bhotani is also a candidate.
