Seven policemen killed in Taliban raid on Takhar post

TALOQAN: Seven policemen have been killed and another three wounded after Taliban militants attacked their post in Khwaja Ghar district of northern Takhar province, an official said on Thursday.

Jawad Hijri, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants stormed the check-post in Bazaar area of the district late Wednesday night, killing six local police and one national police personnel and injuring three others.

Without giving any figures, Hijri said the assault was repulsed and several rebels were killed and injured. However, Habibullah, a resident of the district, said 12 local policemen had been killed and their weapons taken away by the insurgents.

There has been so far no word from the Taliban in this regard. (Pajhwok)
