Several roads in Upper Hazara, Galyat still closed

ABBOTTABAD: After passing one week most of the roads in upper Hazara including Galyat and Thandyani could not be cleared as two heavy snowfall spell blocked it during current winter season. Rescue 1122 operation continued on the 5th day in Galyat and claimed that hundreds of trapped vehicles and tourists have been rescued from Galyat.

In district Batagram, Mansehra and Kohistan heavy snowfall stuck people in the homes, local governments and district administrations failed to open blocked roads. Tehsil Nazim Allai Battagram Nazim Gohar Ali Khan has demanded from the provincial government to provide funds for the road clearance as they have arranged to clear the snow from few Union Councils of the Tehsil but for rest of the roads, they don’t have funds.

He said that owing to heavy snowfall during the second spell mostly roads have been blocked where people are stuck, they are unable to move their patients, the supply of firewood, petrol, oil, medicines and food items have also been stopped. He demanded the provincial government to provide emerge funds for the road clearance.

In Shogran, Kaghan and Naran situation is worst, the whole area has received record snowfall which completely damaged electricity transmission lines and disconnected the telecommunication links, most roads are still blocked and after two days a new spell of rain and snowfall would start in all across Hazara division.
