Shahid Afridi stunned as South Africans quit Pakistan series for IPL

F.P. Report

KARACHI: Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi said he was surprised to see South African players traveling for the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the middle of a series.

Afridi said, “It is sad to see T20 leagues influencing international cricket. Some rethinking needs to be done.” Afridi also said,” Congratulations to Pakistan on a fine series win. Great to see Fakhar follow his brilliant innings in Johannesburg with another 100. Babar was once again all class, an excellent bowling effort by all. A job well done.”

As many as six players of South Africa left the third and final ODI against Pakistan to play matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The South Africa decider was played on Wednesday but the host team did not enjoy the services of Quinton de Kock (MI), David Miller (RR), Kagiso Rabada (DC), Lungi Ngidi (CSK) and Anrich Nortje (DC). All players had left their national team mid-way to join their respective franchises for IPL 2021.
