KABUL: The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) fined opener and wicket-keeper Mohammad Shahzad Mohammadi 300,000 afghanis over violating discipline. Shahzad was punished after he played in a local club and was criticized by many cricket fans on social media. Atif Mashal, ACB director, told a press conference here that they were monitoring discipline and every player if found guilty of violating the discipline would be punished. Allah Dad Noori, discipline committee head, said Shahzad was fined after investigation by the committee.

He warned if Shahzad again committed such violation he would be banned.

He said each player should have permission from the cricket board if he wanted to play in foreign clubs or leagues.

Earlier, Shahzad had been handed down a one-year ban for doping code violation by the International Cricket Council (ICC). On the other hand, cricket fans have praised the ACB decision against Shahzad.
