Leicestershire batted first and were in control with 114 for 1. Geroge Scrimshaw soon got the wicket of Arron Lilley and Ben mike and prevented the big finish Leicestershire were hoping for. Lilley top scored for Leicestershire with 67 runs from 41 balls.
The Derbyshire bowlers had a tough time out on the fieled with every bowler finishing with an economy of above eight. Hayden Kerr and George Scrimshaw picked two wickets each, while Mark Watt and Alex Hughes got one a piece.
Derbyshire’s attempt to chase down the target of 182 runs was led by Masood who despite hitting just one maximum in his innings, finished with a strike rate of 228. His opening partner Luis Reece scored 39 off 36 while some little contributions from the lower-order batters helped Derbyshire to a six-wicket victory with nine deliveries in hand.
Leicestershire bowlers were smashed all over the park mainly by the left-hander Masood. Naveen-ul-Haq went for 13 runs in an over while Callum Parkinson had an economy of 10. Rehan Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers as he took one wicket giving away just 26 runs in his four-over spell.
