Sharjeel rejects rigging allegations in LG Polls

KARACHI: Sindh Minister Information Sharjeel Inam Memon while reacting on the accusations of the opposition parties on the results of the local bodies elections, has said that opposition parties are making false and baseless allegations of rigging adding that edited videos are being spreading on different social media which is contrary to the reality.

In his statement on, Wednesday, the Provincial Minister said that the PPP has lodged complaints to cyber wing of the Fedral Investigation Agency (FIA) ??to take legal action against those who were making and spreading edited videos.

He said that the opponents after witnessing worst and historic defeat in the first phase of local bodies polls in fourteen districts of the province, were resorted to propaganda tactics for their face saving which was the evidence of acknowledgment of their failure.

He said that in the first phase of local bodies elections, more than 800 PPP candidates were elected unopposed while opposition parties were unable to find candidates to contest against Pakistan Peoples Party in the LG Polls in above 800 areas. Sharjeel Inam Memon said that as usual the people of Sindh have expressed their full confidence in the Pakistan Peoples Party. it is unfortunate that the opposition parties were beating the drums of rigging .

Sharjeel greets Hyd Press Club, PAPP newly elected office bearers: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has congratulated the newly elected office bearers and members of the governing body of Hyderabad Press Club and Pakistan Association of Press Photographers .

The Sindh Information Minister congratulated President Press Club Lala Rehman Samoon, General Secretary Hameed-ur-Rehman, Vice President Sajid Khanzada, Joint Secretary Sardar Khan, Treasurer Fahim Babbar and newly elected members of the governing body Ali Hassan, Khalid Kokhar, Jai Prakash Morani, Hussain Khan, Iqbal Mallah, Irshad Channa, Fazil Channa and others for being elected unopposed in the annual elections of Hyderabad Press Club.

He said that Hyderabad Press Club being the second largest press club in Sindh had raised an effective voice for strengthening of democracy and highlighting the real problems of the people.

He expressed his hope that the newly elected office bearers and members of the governing body would continue and carry on the glorious traditions of the Hyderabad Press Club. He said that PPP had always formulated policies for the betterment of journalists.

He said that Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had directed to provide all possible facilities to the journalists and media institutions so that freedom of expression could be protected. He said that Sindh Information Department was working on providing life insurance facility to journalists and it would be launched soon.

The Minister Information also greeted the newly elected body of Pakistan Association of Press Photographers. He congratulated the unopposed newly elected President Syed Abbas Mehdi, General Secretary Muhammad Jamil, Vice President Muhammad Noman, Joint Secretary Athar Khan, Khazan Imran Ali and all members of the Governing Body on their victory.
