Shehbaz should resign as PAC chairman on moral grounds: Fawad Chaudhry

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said on Thursday that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif should resign from the post of chairman Public Accounts Committee.

The federal minister was addressing media after a meeting of the cabinet, which was presided over by the prime minister.

In the meeting, the minister said that the PAC office is being used and others being probed under the National Accountability Bureau have been made part of the committee.

While speaking on the subject of the NAB’s authority, he said that the probe body’s rights are not being reduced and it needs to be empowered.

He said that the NAB’ procedures need to be transparent and impartial. “In the session, there was no discussion on Aleem Khan’s arrest under the NAB,” he said.

“The army and government currently have best coordination in the history,” said the federal minister.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered measures for the progress of people belonging from the erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal areas, which were earlier merged with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said.

On the subject of increase on gas bills, Fawad Chaudhry said that external audit of the additional gas bills has been ordered.
