Shehroz Kashif becomes youngest climber to scale 13 peaks above 8,000-m

LAHORE: Pakistani mountaineer Shehroz Kashif became the youngest climber in the world to summit 13 peaks above 8,000-metre sea level.

In a message on microblogging website X (Twitter) he wrote, “Shehroze has done it! At 3:15 PST, he conquered Cho Oyu, the world’s 6th highest peak at 8201m. He’s now the youngest climber to summit 13x8000m peaks at just 21! Pakistan is bursting with pride. Please pray for his safe descent.”

Kashif achieved this goal by raising Pakistan’s green flag on top of the world’s sixth highest peak Cho Oyu summit above 8,000m above sea level.  During the current year, Pakistani mountaineers Naila Kayani and Sirbaz Khan has also scaled the Cho Oyu peak.

Earlier, Shehroz Kashif had summited Mount Manaslu for the second time in 2023.

Kashif has already scaled 26400 foot high Broad peak the fourth highest in Pakistan, at the age of just 17 years. He is the youngest climber to surmount 12 peak having height more than 8000 metres and also the youngest to raise Pakistani flag on Broad peak.

Belong to Lahore, Kashif has already scaled Mount Everest, Anapurna, K2, Lhotse, Makalu, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum I, II and Kangchenjunga.
