LAHORE: Awami Muslim League’s Chairman Sheikh Rasheed came out with a bizarre suggestion after the top court gave a clean chit to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan in disqualification case on Friday.
The lawmaker, who is perceived as a ‘political buddy’ of Imran Khan, suggested him to remarry his former wife, Jemima Khan.
In a jubilent tone, Rasheed talked to multiple news channel after the top court’s decision expressing that he was impressed with how Imran Khan’s former wife Jemima collected all the documents and furnished before the court.
“It is impossible for any politician to do and the way Jemima did this to help her former husband was impressive’ said the legislator.
The Pindiite maintained that he would personally insist Imran Khan to remarry his first wife but hastened to add that the religious injunctions should be kept in mind.
The politician declared that he was happy to see Imran Khan escaping SC’s axe. “It would have been a black day for both Pakistani politics and Pakistani people, had Imran Khan been disqualified,” noted the AML chief.
Sheikh Rasheed made another startling claim that after Friday’s verdict, political figures from PML- N would rush to join PTI as many were waiting for the decision, handed down by a three-member bench of the apex court.
To a question, Sheikh Rasheed said that he did not foresee elections anytime soon due to delimitation of constituencies which is yet to be passed from Senate.
