Sherpao flays Centre for delay in Munda Dam construction

CHARSADDA: Chairman Quami Watan Party (QWP) Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao criticized the federal government that despite the feasibility study the construction of the Munda dam had been delayed that caused severe electricity shortage and water for irrigation purpose.

He was addressing a public meeting at Shabqadar area of Charssada on Saturday, wherein a prominent political figure Malik Alam Khan with scores of his family members and supporters joined QWP’s droves, the new entrants had praised the leadership of Aftab Khan Sherpao that he is the only leadership left in the province who was in real terms severs the Pakhtuns and the people province.

Aftab Khan said with regard to the construction of two small dams, He stated that KP is the largest producers of gas and oil in Pakistan, but the federal government, under its malicious designs, has taken control over these resources due to which people of KP had been deprived of the development. He asked the government to stop the delaying tactics and creating hurdles in the ways that lead to Pakhtuns welfare and prosperity and ensure construction of the Munda dam earlier.

Sherpao said that the delay in holding the census and ignoring the reservations of the people over the census results have created hurdles in the delimitation. He said that if the census had been held within time it would not had been let to the present grimed situation. He regretted that it would badly affect the share of the smaller provinces in the National Finance Commission Awards, services and strength in the parliament. He said that this vital issue should not be politicized and consensus reached earlier over the delimitation issue should be honored in letter and spirits. QWP Chairman, Sherpao has univocally demanded an end to the line dividing Pakhtuns between settled and tribal areas and has stated that FATA and KP should be united as early as possible.

He stated that uniting Pakhtuns in Pakistan would usher an era of peace and prosperity in the country. He said that Pakhtun nation have rendered numerous sacrifices financially and with their lives and its time that the federal government realized their sacrifices instead of turning a deaf ear towards their demands.

The chairman clarified that it is important to provide all the federating units in Pakistan with their due rights in order to ensure a strong federation. He stated that if the federal government limits its developmental agenda to Punjab, and ignores the sacrifices of Pakhtun nation, it would have a negative impact on the federation.
