Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI (APP): Five ships, MSC Alessia, MSC Candice, X-Press Kailash, Berlin Trader and Chemroad Rose carrying Containers, Project Cargo and Phosphoric Acid were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively during last 24 hours, said a report issued by Port Qasim Authority (PQA) here on Tuesday.

Meanwhile another ship Epic Sardinia carrying LPG also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was reported at the Port at 53% on Monday where a total of nine ships namely, MSC Alessia, MSC Candice, X-Press Kailash, Berlin Trader, Pacific Action, Chemroad Rose, Mandarin China, Agios Nicolas and White Purl are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, General Cargo, Soya Bean, Coal and LPG.

Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 133,795 tonnes, comprising 109,646 tonnes import cargo and 24,149 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 4,085 containers (TEUs), (2,814 TEUs imports and 1,271 TEUs exports) was handled at the port.

Chemicals carrier ‘Chemroad Rose’ sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while four more ships, MSC Alessia, MSC Candice, X-Press Kailash and Mandarin China were expected to sail on same day.

A total of five ships, MSC Tomoko, Snow Ploeg, Epic Sardinia, Greeco Libero and Isabe Oldendroff carrying Containers, Palm oil, LPG and Coal were expected to take berths at QICT, LCT, PQEPT and PIBT respectively on Tuesday, while Gas carrier Arwa Spirit and Chemicals carrier Clipper Helen were due to arrive at PQ on same day and General Cargo carrier Tamar is due to arrive on Wednesday.
