Shopkeepers fined for overcharging in Abbottabad

ABBOTTABAD: The district administration started crackdown against substandard food items and imposed Rs 15000 fine on several shopkeepers for violating hygiene standard or overcharging customers here on Thursday. Acting on the complaints, the district administration formed three teams whereas one team comprising Additional Assistant Commissioner I, II and Assistant Food Controller to raid various places of the city.

Additional Assistant Commissioner I conducted raids and imposed Rs 15000 fine on four shopkeepers for selling substandard food items and overcharging customers. While Additional Assistant Commissioner II along with Veterinary Doctor inspected milk shops of Kunj and Kehal and collected samples of milk and yogurt from 16 shops and after analysis 6 found guilty of adulteration, the additional assistant commissioner imposed fine on them. The third team comprising Assistant Food Controller along with food inspector Abbottabad inspected 50 shops including, fruit & Vegetable, bakeries, Tandoor and General Stores at Mandian and Jinnah Abad. Imposed 50000 fine on 25 shopkeepers those were violating the prescribed standards. In order to provide healthily and standard food items district administration will continue the checking and raids on the shops, bakeries, and restaurants, Additional Assistant Commissioner II said.
