KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah said on Sunday that as floodwaters from Punjab were approaching Sindh, the provincial government was fully prepared to deal with the situation.
Speaking to the media at the Guddu Barrage along with provincial ministers, the chief minister said that the evacuation of people from the katcha area was underway as the entire area risked getting inundated by the flood. “It will be our endeavor not to breach any embankment,” he said, adding, “However, if 900,000 cusecs of water enters the province, then Shahi embankment will be at risk.”
CM Murad said that the protection of the lives of people as well as animals was a priority for the Sindh government.
He went on to say that there was an extremely high flood at Head Trimmun and Sulemanki over the River Sutlej.
