Sindh ruled by elements with ‘fake mandate’: Khalid Maqbool

F.P. Report

KARACHI: Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said Sindh was being ruled by those with a ‘fake mandate.

Addressing a press conference, Siddiqui alleged that census was tampered to benefit a particular political party in the elections in Sindh.

Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, who is also a federal minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, said the strength of population of Sindh’s urban areas was shown decreased. He reiterated the population of Karachi was no less than three million.

He said one of the biggest projects for Karahci, K-IV, was targeted to halt its progress. “The peace in the entire country is connected to peace in Karachi,” he stated.

He said autonomy of Pakistan was more important than a provincial autonomy.

Siddiqui said powers were still not devolved to lower level in Sindh. He questioned how a country could run if corruption was not eliminated once and for all.

Regarding a public meeting of MQM, he said a large number of people will attend a gathering to be organised by the party.

Recently, the Election Commission of Pakistan had approved a petition for hearing seeking ban on Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan.

A three-member bench of the election commission headed by the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (retd) Sardar Muhammad Raza heard the petition.

Petitioner Mohammad Ismail pleaded to the election commission that the MQM-Pakistan was involved in money laundering adding that a huge amount was sent to the founder of MQM in London from Pakistan.

The petitioner pleaded to the commission to impose ban on the MQM over concealing the fact.
