SHABARGHAN: Six Afghan local police (ALP) and three Taliban were killed after a clash in the Sayyad district of northern Sar-e-Pul province, officials said Saturday.
A large number of Taliban fighters swarmed a post of local police in the Darqardaq area of Sayyad district last night, sparking a heavy gunfight, said Zabihullah Amani, spokesman of Sar-e-Pul governor. The clash left six local police and three Taliban fighters dead, adding though sporadic fighting still continues, the Taliban were forced to retreat from the area.
