Six more youth martyred by Indian forces in IOK

SRINAGAR (AFP): Six more youth were martyred on Sunday in an ongoing act of state terrorism by the Indian troops in Badigam area of Shopian district in Indian Occupied Kashmir, bringing the death toll to 10 during the past 24 hours, reported Kashmir Media Service.

The youth were killed by the troops during a cordon and search operation, as well as during firing on peaceful protesters in the area.

The martyred were identified as Professor Muhammad Rafi Butt, Saddam Ahmad Paddar, Bilal Ahmad Mahand, Aadil Malik, Tausif Ahmad Sheikh and teenager Asif Ahmad Mir.

The killings led to intense clashes between troops and protesters in the area, according to reports. Indian troops used brute force and fired bullets, pellets and teargas shells, in which many protesters, including Asif Ahmad Mir, 17, were injured at Badigam in Shopian.

The boy, Asif Ahmed Mir a resident of Rahomo village in Pulwama district, sustained a critical bullet wound during the clashes at Badigam. He was shifted to SMHS Srinagar hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries. A doctor confirmed the death and said that he had died as a result of an injury to the head.

Earlier, five youth were killed after Indian army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area.

An Indian policeman and an army officer were reportedly injured in clashes in the same district, suggested reports.
