Sixteen-nation Junior tennis begins in Islamabad today

KARACHI (PPI): Syed Tajammul Abbas ITF Pakistan World Junior Ranking Tennis Championships begin today (Saturday) at S. Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex in Islamabad where players from 16 countries will be seen in action.

International players from 16 countries namely USA, Hong Kong, Turkey, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Kuwait, Korea, Germany, Kazakhstan, France, Russia, Philippines, Malaysia and Pakistan have confirmed their participation according to Tournament Director Muhammad Khalil Chughtai.

Players will vie for top honors in boys 18 and Under singles, boys 18 and Under doubles, girls 18 and Under singles and girls 18 and Under doubles events. The qualifying matches will start from today (Saturday) and will conclude on Sunday. Meanwhile, the main rounds will commence from Monday while the finals will be played on February 23.

According to Khalil, all foreign and local qualifying round players have arrived in Islamabad while the main round players will all reach by Sunday while several players have already arrived in the capital to accustom to the conditions ahead of the tournament.
