SMC delegation visit CPO, meets IGP Dr. Naeem

PESHAWAR: The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr. Muhammad Naeem Khan has said that new era of policing have started in the merged districts  and positive changes would be brought in the lives of local people so as to enable them to lead the country in different strata of life.

This, he said, while answering different questions of visiting delegation of Senior Management Course of National School of Public Policy Lahore after attending briefing on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police in CPO today.

The IGP informed the delegation that District Police Officers after assuming charg of their offices in the newly merged districts have started regular functioning. While outlining policing in the NMDs, the police chief pointed out that policing would be carried out in the merged areas keeping in view the geographic situation, customs and traditions of the local people. Referring to a question about police autonomy, the IGP maintained that no doubt  Khyber  police enjoys full financial and administrative autonomy but on the other hand strict accountability system has been put in place in which beside internal accountability police would also be accountable and answerable to the local dwellers. The IGP added that the formation of Regional Complaint Authorities (RCA) and Safety Commissions in the police Act 2017 were conceived by keeping this fact in view so as to put strict vigil on police.

Earlier, DIG Headquarters Sher Akbar Khan briefed the delegation about policing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in detail.

The members of delegation included Mirza Naseer Inayat and Asad Naeem of PMS group, Rafi Ullah and Ghulam Safdar Shah of National Accountability Bureau, Azood-ul-Mehdi of PCS, Syed Bahadur Ali, Dr. Razi-ur- Rahman Khan and Abdul Jawad of Inland Revenue Service, Iqbal Hussain and Muhammad Khan Ranjha of Pakistan Administrative Service, Miraj Gul Ex-Cadre, Khawaja Sami Ullah of ExC, NSPP, Zulfiqar Ali of PA&AS, Asif Ameer Khan ML&C and Flt. Lt. (R) Imran Yaqoob of Police Service of Pakistan.

On behalf of the participants Directing Staff Naveed Elahi thanked the IGP and his team for a comprehensive and informative briefing.

The IGP Dr. Muhammad Naeem Khan presented a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police shield to the visiting delegation. Additional IGP Headquarters Amjad Khan, Commandant Elite Force Sadiq Kamal Orakzai, DIsG Headquarters and Telecommunications, AIsG Internal Accountability and Welfare and personal staff officers of the IGP were also present on the occasion.

The delegation is now-a-day on a country wide study tour in connection with their course.
