Smith reacts to President Zelenskyy’s virtual address to Congress

F.P. Report

WASHINGTON, D.C: Representative Adam Smith (D-Wash.), Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, today released the following statement after Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy delivered a virtual address to a joint gathering of Congress on Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.

“President Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people have demonstrated incredible courage in the face of Russian aggression and the tenacity of their resistance has been an inspiration. The United States and its allies and partners should continue to help the Ukrainians – offering humanitarian assistance, military aid, and more – while ensuring that Russia’s war in Ukraine does not widen. Vladimir Putin’s unprovoked war against Ukraine has created a tragedy on a devastating scale, as President Zelenskyy described so clearly today.

“The United States under the leadership of the Biden-Harris administration has taken decisive action to hold Putin accountable and to stand with Ukraine. We will continue to support the Ukrainian people in their defense.”
